Funding is offered to students for research programme. Newcastle University is awarding PhD scholarship in Environmental Archaeology for a study in the United Kingdom.
The funding award is provided to PhD students for research programme in environmental analysis and to work with team’s of geomaticians, archaeological geophysicist and visualisation specialists. The successful applicant will work with physical geographers and environmental archaeologists to illuminate the impact of the political, military and religious changes, and their associated activities, in transforming the environment of the Eastern Caelian over eight centuries.

Value/Worth of Scholarship
The scholarship is valued for 100% of UK/EU/International tuition fees paid and an annual stipend (living expenses) of £15,490.00 pa.
Eligibility and Requirements
You can proceed to application if the following eligibility criteria are meet by applicants.
- Possess a high 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent, or equivalent, in archaeology or a related subject area.
- Possess a masters degree (merit or distinction) in a relevant subject area to be completed before starting the PhD. Experience in environmental archaeology, palynology and related methodologies.
- Desirable Knowledge of Italian. For those without Italian, support and instruction will be made available.
- If English is not your first language we require you to meet the following English language requirements: Direct Entry: IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.5 in writing, and 5.5 in all other sub-skills).

select ‘PhD School of History, Classic and Archaeology (full time) – Archaeology’ as the programme of study
insert the studentship code hca003 in the studentship/partnership reference field
Step 4: There is no requirement to attach a research proposal to your application. In addition to completing the online application, you are asked to send a copy of your personal statement and CV direct to Professor Haynes by email (ian.haynes@ncl.ac.uk) citing the studentship code hca003.
