An opportunity for promising research students from Sub-Saharan Africa to undertake MSc training. TEG Postgraduate Training Fellowship 2020 in Medical Statistics at LSHTM.

The scheme provide support to get trained in Medical Statics, The fellow continues to receive mentoring, supervision and support for the duration of their fellowship from members of TEG Group.

Two fellowships are available, funded by the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) and GSK – to make available training supports for two years in medical statistics. At the first year, fellow receive training and study Medical Statistics MSc degree program at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) This will be immediately followed by a one year professional work in statics at an African centre associated with the research program.

Pursue MSc in Medical Statics as you get trained at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Students receive an opportunity for a year working as a statistician at one of LSHTM partner centres in Africa.

Fellow is exposed to different aspects of research including study design, data management, analysis and reporting of findings. They are guided by local statisticians and researchers as well as relevant TEG members.

This is intended to foster excellence in the field of medical statistics and epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa. The fellowship will provide costs for fees, stipend and return air travel.

Requirements and Eligibility Criteria

Planning to get trained in medical statistic, candidates with interest in the TEG Training Fellowship need meet the eligibility criteria below:

  • Be a national and resident of a country in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Possess good academic background performances and degree in mathematics, statistics or a related subject
  • Possess at least 1 year of work experience in medical statistics or epidemiolog.
  • Be able to meet the English language requirements set out
