Nominations for leadership awards to outstanding individuals managing and protecting the natural resources. The National Geographic Society Buffet Awards for Leadership 2020 in conservation, management and protection of the natural resources in their regions and countries- Africa and Latin America, and are inspirational conservation advocates who serve as role models and mentors.
Nomination is currently open, the award for leadership in conservation is offered by National Geographic in partnership with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation
The National Geographic Buffett Awards for Leadership in Conservation in Africa and Latin America were established in partnership with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation to recognize and celebrate unsung conservation heroes who are working in the field. The awards are presented each year: one for achievement in Africa and the other for achievement in Latin America to persons who have displayed leadership in the managing, protecting of the natural resources in their home countries, and regions.

Eligibility And Requirements
To apply for these awards for leadership in conservation, Nominee must:
- Be a citizen from a country in Africa or Latin America.
- Develops the conservation work in their home country.
- Nominee must be an accomplished individual that has created positive change in his/her community through conservation.
- Individuals are not to allowed to nominate themselves as such nomination will not be considered.
- Be at the peak of their careers as conservation leaders.
- Preference will be given to nominees who have not received multiple conservation awards.
- Preference will be given to nominees with species-focused conservation efforts.
Please Note:
- Buffett Awards are NOT lifetime achievement awards, nor are they early career awards. Thus nominees must be at the peak of their careers as conservation leaders

- Individuals nominating themselves will not be considered
- Expatriates do not qualify for these awards, although we recognize the important work they do around the world

- Fill, complete the nomination form and submit at the latest Friday, January 10 2020.
