The UONGOZI Institute Leadership Essay Competition application is now open. The UONGOZI Institute each year organize the Leadership Essay Competition to provide young African youths and future leaders the opportunity to contribute to important topics/discussion on leadership and sustainable development.

UONGOZI Institute is pleased to announce the 2020 Leadership Essay Competition, the eight edition since inception (2013). This year’s discussion topic focusess to solicit the thought on the theme of the African Leasership Forum (ALF)

The final deadline is by Friday, July 10, 2020 17:00HRS (EAT).

Why UONGOZI Institute Leadership Essay Competition

Every year, The UONGOZI Institute Leadership Essay Competition is organized with a target on the future leaders from African region to hear their voice by contributing to important leadership and sustainable development discussion.

An opportunity to be awarded a grand prize of USD $2,000 and Up to five winners will be selected from African countries.

Values/Benefits

The has a value worth a grand prize of USD $2,000 will be awarded to the overall winner.

Up to five winners will be selected to receive their awards at a prize-giving event, which will be held online during the ALF in July 2020..

Attent the African leaders Forum ceremony with the former African Heads of State and other distinguished leaders from the public sector, private sector, academia and civil society in attendance.

Requirements and Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are interested in applying for the competition must be

  • African citizens from any African country.
  • Be of age between 18-25 years.
  • Submit a typed essay of two A4 pages responding to the essay prompt “If you were an African leader, how would you promote African intra-trade to unlock agricultural potential in the Continent?”

Documentation Required

Typed Essay answering the given question and sent by email to submission@uongozi.or.tz

Attach written satement of originality and ownersip of the intellectual property rights with essay.

How To Apply For UONGOZI Institute Leadership Essay Competition

Application Procedure

Closing Date: The final deadline for submission will be Friday, 10 July, 2020 at 17:00 hours (EAT). The winners will be notified via email on the third week of July, 2020.

  • Write by typing an essay with maximum length of two (2) A4 pages. The format shall be of single spaced, Arial font size 11 with page margins of 1 inch (2.54 cm) for each margin, and sent as a Microsoft Word document.
  • Submit an answered essay to the given email above, All essays must be written in English.
  • Attach a written Statement of Originality and ownership of intellectual property rights to your essay.

Please Note: Essays will be judged on the basis of originality, creativity, use of language and appropriateness to contest theme.
