The University of Leeds invites application for POLIS Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship Funding to students planning to pursue PhD.
The award is a fully funded PhD scholarship to be offered to UK and EU students who wish to undertake PhD degree program in the School of Politics and International Studies.

Eligibility and Requirement for POLIS Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship
To be considered for the POLIS Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship
- Applicants must be a national of UK/EU country
- Applicants should have at least a first class or an upper second class UK Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline as well as a Masters degree at Merit level (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline.
- Applicants who are uncertain about the requirements for a particular research degree or scholarship are advised to contact the Graduate School prior to making an application.
Entry/Admission Requirement
All applicants must hold a first degree or (equivalent) with a first class or upper second class in an appropriate discipline.
Obtain a masters degree at Merit level (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline.
Meet the English language entry requirement of 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid.

The following documents are required for the postgraduate research scholarship
Degree transcripts and certificates
Masters results (or results obtained so far) and
A research proposal.

How to Apply for POLIS Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship
Application Procedure
All applicants should follow the step below for application
Step 1 – Apply for a place on the PhD in the School of Politics and International Studies
Formal applications for a PhD should be made online through the University’s online application.
Step 2 – Apply for the scholarship.
Please submit a scholarship application form by the deadline to applypgr.socialsciences@leeds.ac.uk
Applicants for the scholarship should submit a scholarship application form to the Social Sciences Graduate School by 17:00 p.m. (GMT) on the 1st May 2020.
To ensure there is sufficient time to consider you for a place on the programme in advance of the scholarship deadline we would strongly advise that you apply for a study place on the PhD at least a month prior to the scholarship deadline.
Applicants should ensure they have provided all supporting documents with their application for research degree
If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence that you meet the University’s minimum English language requirements (se above eligibility and requirement).
